Not out of line. The guys, we commonly come by these realizations late. On average, we’re not good with emotion. Red Green, of all people, really described it well: “A woman’s emotions are like the paint board at a hardware store, all full of different shades and hues. A man’s is like the paint closet at a municipal garage. Safety yellow and fire engine red. Women can have all kinds of different emotions; generally guys get like three. Happy, hungry, and that third one…oh…what is it? That one you get when you’re driving? Oh yeah…blinding rage.”
I sure hope Jenny forgives him. A “c’mon, I cheated on you, you kicked me in the balls, we’re even, were cool now, right? right?” (maybe better tactic would be to point out to her, that if she didn’t still care for him she wouldn’t punish him other than dumping… but I am not sure he could figure that out by himself)
I would be terrible (if realistic, sadly) waste for him to come to this realization too late for anything to be done about it.
