So, learning Japanese is going well. I don’t have much to tell about my life for this week. I’ve been working and trying to save up some bucks for the vacation I’m taking with my boyfriend. We’re going to Montreal! Yeah! Unfortunately, I’m a really bad spender (it burns a hole in my pocket), so my bank account is kind of getting low. I weep a river for myself. And I went to Barnes & Noble yesterday, and there are so many books I want! But I have to stop spending my money so much, because my car is kind of on the verge of dying. Yesterday it almost overheated, and I had to pull it over in the nearest gas station. I’m so glad I made it that far, because the brakes get really hard to push when there’s no water in my car. So I got some water in my car, and it’s been fine since, thankfully.
About this week’s JD fiasco: pizza shop craziness! Jenny tries to tell Alicia that she can get a job with her, but Alicia can’t stop with her wayward thinking (much like myself). I hate when that happens. Kyle tries to score some pizza! But yeah, I agree with what Jenny says, “You work here, aren’t you sick of it?” That’s why if I worked at McDonald’s or something, I could never eat it because I’d get so sick of it, and when I quit, I’d never want to eat it again. Hmm, maybe I should get a job there!
Alas, I am stuck at Hannaford.

Yet again I am going on vacation! Huzzah! This week it’s a fun-filled weekend off to pleasant Montreal! And the best part is, it’s only with my boyfriend! Yeah! I’m excited, can’t you tell? So we will start this fun vacation with checking in to our hotel then stolling around downtown Montreal and maybe I’ll spend some money (maybe) and we’ll get dinner, and head back later to our hotel, and maybe swim in the pool. The next day we’re planning on spending in La Ronde, this really huge and awesome amusment park they have in the middle of the St. Laurence River. I’ve been there lots of times but never just me and someone I brought by ourselves. Before it was just my entire family and extra family that always decide to come along. Tomorrow before we leave we’ve got some errands to run (exchanging our money and such) and buying food for our trip. I just realized how boring this must sound, but I’m so excited that I don’t care! Deal with it! And the last day we are sadly leaving (on Saturday) to come back to our sad little Green Mountain state. And the next day it’s back to work with me. I cry myself a river.
So, I guess I should say something about the thirteenth episode. Well, the first half of the thirteenth episode, if you hadn’t figured it out. It is the first of many flashback episodes. I like doing them, then I go back further in the eighties and sometimes further. So this one takes place in 1979, where Alicia and Jason are in second grade music class together. Poor Alicia, I feel bad making the teacher yell at a little innocent seven-year-old anarchist. But the world worked quite differently back then, and most people didn’t really tolerate the whole punk rock scene nearly as much as they do now. Now the punk scene is kind of played down a lot, and it doesn’t nearly represent what it used to: speaking up for what you believe in. It’s kind of sad. A lot of musicians that aren’t on the radio (mainly real punk rock, not power pop and such) still play the same kind of stuff, like one of my favorite bands, NOFX. They are a band that has thoroughly quoted how I feel about punk rock perfectly. Just listen to “The Separation of Church and Skate” on The War of Errorism, and you will see what I mean.

‘K, so here it is: the second half of episode thirteen. It’s gonna be totally confusing now because next week is episode fourteen, but it’s the fifteenth comic. Throws me all off. So a lot of this might not make sense because I’ve been working this entire week, and it feels like nonstop. Tomorrow is my fifth day in a row. That may not sound like much, but in a grocery store, checking people’s crap out all day, it sometimes really does a number on me. I end up ranting and raving at all the wrong people (mainly my boyfriend). Then I feel really bad, and I wanna take it all back, and I do, and we’re better, but you know. I just feel really mean. You don’t even wanna know how I am when I’m PMS-ing.
Anyways, we came back from vacation (the one that mattered) on Saturday. It was rad. Most of the time was spent sitting in traffic or standing in line, but at least we talked a lot. He’s got no radio so it was a little quiet. I didn’t think I would make it without music for forty-eight hours, but somehow I did. Then I listened to a lot of 80s music and All-American Rejects when I got home and drove to work the next day. Lots. Then Monday night we went to see The 40-year-old Virgin. Let me say, it was one of the funniest movies I have ever seen in my life, and probably will ever see. I swear to God. I am going to make a shrine to Steve Carrell because he is my God.
So, about the episode, Alicia gets yelled at. It’s so sad. A seven year old getting yelled at for admitting her favorite band. The whole joke though, is true. It’s funny because when I was a sophomore, my two favorite bands were blink-182 (still is) and the Backstreet Boys. I don’t care what you say. Howie is hot. Well, people would always say, “How can you like blink and the Backstreet Boys?” I would say “I don’t know, I just do.” I mean, why does it matter, anyway? So, the thing is, Alicia writes a pop ballad, right? And normally she doesn’t care for pop music. But I wrote a techno song, and I don’t like techno, so that’s the whole joke. I mean, she is me, after all.

You wanna know just how crazy my life is? Well, it would take more than a couple of paragraphs to explain. Today I had a fun time at the fair: I won a stuffed animal right off the bat, I won five bucks at the roulette wheel, and I met Spiderman! How lucky am I! It wasn’t Tobey Maguire, unfortunately, but he still looked like Spidey. Anyway, I did the quarter game (which is now actually two quarters – what a rip!), but it is your choice of prize. And I won on the first try! It was that game where you put your quarters on a number and someone throws a ball in the pit and whomever’s color it lands on wins. I picked aqua, one of my favorite colors, and I threw the ball, and landed on it! And I won a stuffed poodle! Huzzah! Also, I had a couple of strawberry banana smoothies and some pizza. Yay! And I bought two random packs of Magic cards for my brother for his birthday in two months. (I won’t be able to get them in November!) Also I bought four DVDs for like 20 bucks. It was buy one get one free day and they were ten bucks apiece. Other than the fair though, I got my textbooks for school (sniff! I lost 200 dollars!) Luckily it was only for three classes. And my car almost overheated again for the second time in a few weeks. All donations for the SP Needs a New Car Fund are being accepted as of now. But even if I did get a new car it would cost my like so much more money because gas is like THREE TWENTY A GALLON!!!!!!!!!
So, um, this week’s episode: Alicia gets a job! Hooray for her! I always thought it would be awesome to get a job in a record store. Especially a hole-in-the-wall kind of record store. That actually sold records. And the questions they would ask me would be about bands and genres of music. I think that would be cool. All the bands that Sparky asks Alicia about are all bands that I just randomly came up with, too. I could nail every one! I want a High Fidelity job!
I guess I’m done. My boyfriend started playing Fable again a couple of days ago, and it’s kind of funny watching him kill all the guards. He’s raiding all the houses in Oakvale now. Heehee. See you next week!

It’s wierd, I’m doing this in the afternoon when I actually have time!
It’s like JD has done a 360 at this point. It’s kind of a turning point since there are almost 100 episodes up. I’m mean, look at how my art has changed! I’m super-happy with how this episode came out… It took me only about an hour to do! That’s really fast for me! But yeah, I really like the top left picture, and the bottom right picture, I think they came out the best…
As for the picture of Al and Jason, you can expect that to become sort of a mini storyline in the future… but I won’t say more than that.
But I guess this episode is kind of a little flashback in its own… it was fun coming up with all the pictures!
As for news in my life, not much to talk about there… just drawing, drawing, drawing! (Not that there’s a problem with that…) Oh, yeah, and here’s your fan service for the next thousand views… thank you everyone eternally!
Enjoy the comic and I will see you Friday!
